May

I can't believe it's the end of May already! It's been so nice to be able to spend more time outside, we are all enjoying ourselves. And it's been a busy month! I had a wonderful Mother's Day--the boys made me a delicious breakfast, bought me presents and flowers and Simon brought home an adorable card that he made at school.

We have been getting Simon together with his friends on the weekends. We saw Finn Mac again and the boys rode their big boy bikes (more on that development on the blog soon) and played on the playground:

We went to Lili's house where they had snacks and watched Yo Gabba Gabba while Lili's mom and I caught up:

And we had a fun afternoon at Lake Union Park, where we checked out some boats and Simon pointed out the Space Needle to us:

Meanwhile, Nate has been having fun trying new foods...

playing with new toys...

doing his tummy time...

and generally being self-sufficient:

Finally, just a couple of fun family photos!

By the way, we checked Nate's blood potassium again a couple of weeks ago and it was the lowest it has ever been since we've been checking, solidly in the normal range! Yay Nate!

Starting to sit up!

Well, right after we started talking to the doctor about Nate's development, he clearly decided to prove that there was nothing to worry about! He has started rolling over from front to back on occasion and has made great progress sitting up on his own.

Here's an adorable picture of him, very happy seeing the world from a new perspective. And check him out in action in the video below.

6 months old!

Nate is getting so big, already 6 months old! We took him in for his check up today, and his stats are:
19 lbs 9 ounces, 26.5 inches. At this point, he is actually smaller than Simon was at this age, believe it or not!

We talked to the doctor about his development--he is on the slow end of gross motor skills, and isn't rolling over or sitting up at all yet. We are going to give it another 6 weeks, then go back for another visit. If he hasn't made much progress, we will have him evaluated for early intervention therapy where someone from the state will help him on a regular basis with his development. If he does make some significant progress, then we will just continue to give him time. It doesn't seem like a major issue right now, but if he is slightly delayed, we want to give him all the help we can to keep him happy and healthy. We will also continue to check his potassium every so often--we will go again in a week and see what adding solids to his diet has done to his levels. The hope there is still that this problem will just go away with time.

Other than all of that, he is doing well! He is really having fun in his jumper and is really interested in watching us all eat. In addition to the purees we've been giving him, I think we might start trying some finger foods and other handheld, safe foods. He's pretty good with his hands, and really seems interested in holding his own food and bottles.

He also switched daycare providers today, and is now spending his days with a mom named Kelsey and her 9 month old son Owen in their home. We are excited for this situation, and know he will be happy there.

So, finally, here's his 6 month picture!

Dinnertime

Just a minute or two of dinnertime with the boys...note Nate's skill with a spoon!

Jumping!

We've been putting Nate in his jumparoo for playtime for a while now, but it wasn't until today that he realized what that thing can really do!

Baby Beluga

Simon (kind of) sings Baby Beluga:
