It's A Boy!

I had my big ultrasound yesterday. It was very obvious to all of us that Simon will be getting a little brother in November!

Aside from that, he looked really healthy, super active and measured on the big side, which I guess isn't anything to be concerned about right now. We got lots of great pictures from the ultrasound...check them out!

Simon the Stubborn

Simon has recently developed a hatred of handwashing. Here he quietly makes his opinion on the issue pretty clear.

22 months

This was a busy month for us! Simon is as crazy and active as ever, and is really into vehicles at the moment. He loves to point out buses, airplanes and trucks ("bus" bane" and "guk" in Simon-ese). He even got to go inside an old bus at the Greenwood Car Show this weekend:

We've been spending a lot more time outside, much of which is at the playground. Simon has gotten into the sandbox recently:

But we also find lots of fun stuff to do when the Seattle spring gets a little too rainy and we have to stay inside:

Other than that, we are just having fun. We will find out on Tuesday if Simon will have a little brother or sister come November. He has learned to pat my belly when we ask where the baby is, but that's the extent of his comprehension so far. But he's a very empathetic little guy, always running over for hugs if he sees someone upset.

We are taking him in to see the doctor this Tuesday--his eating has gone from bad to worse--he refuses pretty much all homemade food, even when we make and offer 3, 5 even 7 different things at dinner. He refuses all vegetables and only consistently eats a few things. We are hoping that the doctor can help us figure out how to expand his eating a bit.

enjoy the summer!

Water fight!

OK, it wasn't exactly an evenly-matched water fight. Mom with a video camera and water squirter versus her defenseless husband and 21-month old son. But pretty entertaining nonetheless!

Cup Hat

Simon got a little silly at dinner tonight...

Night Night

We send a crib sheet and blanket to daycare each week for Simon's naps, and then bring them home each Friday. They were sitting on a chair in the living room this evening and he started playing "night night" as if he was at daycare.

Don't mind the mess in our house or lack of clothing on Simon...

Pregnancy update

I haven't really posted about the pregnancy, so here's a quick update of where we are.

I will be 16 weeks on Sunday, and just saw my doctor earlier this week for my monthly check-in. Everything is looking good, and I just got back the results of an integrated genetics screening and it came back negative for any indications of problems, which is wonderful!

We scheduled the big anatomy ultrasound for 6/28...26 days until we know if it's a boy or a girl! We can't wait...

We bought a doppler to use at home and can listen to the baby's heartbeat, which is so cool and reassuring. I think I might be starting to feel the slightest movements, but it's hard to tell at this point.

We bought Simon a big brother book and he loves to point out babies in books and out in the world. He knows to pat my belly when I ask where the baby is, but I don't think there's any real comprehension of what is happening yet.

So that's what's going on, here are a few ultrasound pics from the last few months.

At approx 9 weeks:

At Approx 11 weeks--not a great picture, but for what it's worth the head is on the left and the crosshairs show the crown-rump length.
