More jumping!

...then we moved on to the doorway jumper, which he loved as well!

Jumping is the coolest!

Simon has a new favorite...JUMPING! First, we tried him in the stationary jumper...

Outtakes

When we take Simon's monthly pictures, we inevitably end up with a bunch that are adorable but aren't quite right for his official shot. So here are some outtakes from month 5, as well as a couple of pictures with mommy.

Simon is 5 months old!

I can't believe it, Simon is 5 months old already. We happened to have a dr's appointment today for some vaccinations and I asked if we could weigh him while we were there...drumroll...19 pounds 2 ounces! WOW!!

Here is his official 5 month picture, in his jumper with Peeks showing us his good side:

I stayed home one day this week, not feeling great, and Simon spent the day with the nanny and the little Charlotte at the other house. I spent most of the time feeling like a bad mom for not taking advantage of the day with him, but since I actually did have some work to get done, I let it be.

But I realized that it was the first time since he was born that I was at home without him around. So, of course, I took some time out to look at pretty much all of his "old" videos and pictures. I can't believe how tiny he was! He really looked like a little alien at first. And the first few videos are funny because Matt and I thought they were so action-packed--Simon would raise one arm up and we would get all excited...like he's a genius! Now he's constantly moving, flailing around, making all kinds of sounds, giggling, playing.

what a difference 5 months makes!

We love you Simon!

High Chair Hijinks

Now that Simon can sit up with support, we've been using the high chair in the kitchen. While he starts out pretty vertical, he's not quite strong enough to hold himself up and inevitably ends up at a pretty serious tilt. Here are a few shots of him playing with some favorite toys while hanging out in his high chair.

I'm just testing something out, trying to see if I can get a video embedded right here on the blog...

if it works, here's a video from early December. Simon was just learning how to grasp...and drool.

Simon will eat anything!

Simon has happily moved onto green beans and is loving them too. Next is applesauce, which we will try this coming weekend.

But we found out that he will open his mouth for pretty much anything you offer him...check it out:

Simon's new trick

Simon has been learning to make lots of new sounds...we've heard some Goo and Da from him recently. But his clear favorite is...the raspberry! He raspberries ALL the time. In the car, during meals, while being changed, in his crib...

this video was a couple of weeks ago, he's only gotten better and more prolific since!

enjoy!

Champion eater!

After a day or two of rice cereal, Simon was loving eating his solids. After about a week of that, we decided to try his first "real" food, and introduced him to sweet potatoes. All the books say that we shouldn't expect him to eat much right away, that he might not love it at first...well, not Simon! It was as if he's been just waiting for the delicious sweet potatoes to come along! A few bites with an uncertain look and then he was off and running!

We have started giving him 1 ounce of solids each evening after his last bottle. We will be introducing one new food each week, so if he does react badly to anything we will be sure to know what it was that did it. We will continue the sweet potatoes this week, then it's on to green beans!

check him out...too cute!

They're so big!!

We are just about at the end of our official PEPS meetings, but we have all decided to keep meeting anyway. We took a few pictures of the babies tonight...they are so much bigger than the tiny little newborns they were when we started 3 or so months ago!

Left to right we have:
Aspen, Lili, Posy, Owen, Conner, Simon and Harper

Peek a boo

Simon has a new favorite game, Peek A Boo. He likes it when you cover his face with something and then pull it away fast. And he makes this really funny sound when he's covered...Grandma and I played with him in NJ over Christmas...check it out.
